A few words about the April workshops. This time, unlike in March, we had only one female participant. Each edition can bring surprises:)
We want to thank all participants and those who helped us organise the workshop. Martyna, Bolek, you were incredible! Bolek, you don’t even realize what enormous potential you have! Martyna – what can I say, wow, just wow! A big thank you to Nikon Academy for their suport, to Grzegorz for a genius stylization, for Gosia and Darek for flower decorations and table arrangement. Do you know that we almost had the table stolen by passers-by?:) And last but not least, big thanks go to Amber Room!

We were dreaming of a winter wedding as we find this season really romantic, with a certain charm. The preparations only took 4 months, all decisions concerning the venue of the ceremony or the wedding reception were made on the spot, without hesitation. It was the same when we saw the wedding galery on WhiteSmoke Studio website – we instantly knew we wanted them to take our wedding photos. The pictures captured perfectly the atmosphere of that day, they remind us what a fantastic and… freezing day it was! Brrr… Working with Dorota and Michał is sheer pleasure. They made us feel special and thanks to their professionalism our stress and uneasiness vanished without a trace. Thank you guys!

Marzyliśmy o ślubie w zimowych klimacie. Ta pora roku jest naszym zdaniem bardzo urokliwa i romantyczna. Przygotowania trwały zaledwie 4 miesiące, a decyzje dotyczące miejsca ceremonii czy przyjęcia weselnego podejmowaliśmy bez chwili zawahania. Podobnie było z wyborem Smoke’ów. Gdy zobaczyliśmy galerie na blogu wiedzieliśmy, że chcemy mieć ich ze sobą w ten zimowy dzień. Zdjęcia są klimatyczne, niezwykłe i przypominają nam, a czasem nawet uświadamiają jak wspaniale no i oczywiście jak zimno było! Brrrr…. Współpraca z Dorotą i Michałem to czysta przyjemność. To także dzięki Waszemu profesjonalnemu podejściu i wyczuciu chwili czuliśmy się wyjątkowo, a trema i stres gdzieś się schowały Dziękujemy !!!

Here’s what our Bride remembers about that special day:

The church and reception venue were very important to Andrew and I when planning the wedding. Andrew’s family has been getting married at the same church for generations and we wanted to continue the tradition. We also had the reception at the same restaurant that his parents had their wedding reception at.

Having good food and wine was also important to me, as I love both. Choosing a great photographer (which we did), is also essential to capture the amazing day.

Finally, the most important thing of all is ensuring that your closest friends and family will be there to share the special day with you, that is really what makes it perfect.

A quick peek from Laura and Jamie’s wedding. The wedding ceremony took place in London Kew Gardens, which is without doubt one of the London’s finest places for having a wedding. It has such a special atmosphere around, and the gardens are so beautiful, you just can’t take enough photos of it all. We feel so very fortunate to get to share such special days and moments. We love working with people who are so into showing how much they mean to each other. We can’t say enough good things about Laura and Jamie and their lovely families, who all made us feel so welcome. Laura and Jamie, we hope your life together will be as filled with love and warmth as your wedding day was, we wish you that with all our hearts! x

Many brides-to-be look for inspiration on our blog, so we’ve asked our couples to give us an insight into their wedding arrangements – how they chose the clothes, accessories, flowers, venues etc., and how the planning was progressing. We consider it an honour that our brides want to share their experience to inspire brides-to-be!

Here’s how Laura remembers those months leading up to her wedding. Laura, thank you for sharing this story with us!

My dress was designed by Priscilla of Boston, I got it at a little boutique in Angel, London. It was about the 10th dress I tried on! I’ve never been a big shoe girl so I got mine from Monsoon, and they did just fine! I know a lot of girls spend hundreds on shoes but I thought it was a waste as you don’t really see them anyway! For my bridesmaids, they all got the same blue dress, but as they’re all such different girls we wanted to customise each dress so they all got different straps and sleeves made.

Jamie’s was wearing a Ralph Lauren Prince of Wales checked suit. The shirt and tie were Ralph. And his shoes were classic brogue shoes by Grenson.

We planned our whole wedding in six months.. it was quite hectic but we didn’t want to wait a year. The best piece of advice I can give is to make lots of lists! Just work out what needs booking in advance, and what can wait til nearer the time. And don’t obsess with things, at the end of the day – no one notices what the table plan looks like! Oh and one last bit of advice, we were told that one thing will definitely go wrong, so just prepare yourself for that and don’t panic when it does. As it happened, quite a few little things went wrong but we didn’t really care as we were having such a great time! Enjoy it, there’s no other time you’ll get everyone you like in the whole world all in one room!

We searched really hard to find the right photographers for our wedding – you can’t afford to get it wrong on your big day! We were so happy when Dorota and Michael said they were able to do it as we loved their style – capturing natural expressions and poses was exactly what we wanted, we hate the generic ‘posed’ style that a lot of wedding photographers do, weddings are personal and so should your photos be. We can’t stop looking at the photos and everyone we’ve showed them to absolutely loves them. They have a very unique style. They were also very accommodating and easy to work with, and we’ll definitely be using them for a family portrait in the future! Your big day goes by in such a flash so the right photos are the most important thing to have, and I’d recommend Dorota and Michael to anyone.

Many girls look for inspiration on our blog. Here are a few words from Weronika to inspire all the brides-to-be!:) Thanks Weronika:)

“We decided to get married in Poland, so it was very important for us to follow Polish nuptial traditions: a church wedding, the welcome with bread and salt, Polish food and vodka on the table, throwing the shot glasses away after the toast:)
Not all we did was traditional though. Davide wanted to see me in church already, so I was led to the altar by my father, preceded by my nieces and nephews wearing identical Babymotta Milano gowns. Our parents gave us their blessing at the altar, which our guests found beautiful. Even though the wedding service was conducted in Polish, we made our vows in Italian, too.
We often look at the photos Dorota and Michał took on our wedding day. They leave no doubt that everything was perfect that day; the long veil I had always dreamed of; the theme color (raspberry) visible even on men’s socks; the controversial (for some) choice of carnations instead of roses for the bouquet, the old vintage Warszawa, driving no faster than 50 kmph, which gave us time to cool down after the ceremony; and the choice of photographers of course!
Dorota and Michał gave us the best wedding gift ever; their photos reflect all emotions of that day. After our engagement session we already knew we were in good hands; our photographers had lots of energy, good ideas and they gave us 200% of themselves! The second time round was equally satisfying, so we are sure to enjoy more sessions with WhiteSmoke Studio in the future!”

Po sesji narzeczeńskiej Weroniki i Davide w Londynie nie mogliśmy doczekać się ich ślubu w Jarocinie;) Polsko-włosko-londyński miks towarzyski gwarantował fantastyczną imprezę i tak właśnie było! Z żalem wracaliśmy do Warszawy. Kochani – raz jeszcze ogromne gratulacje i do zobaczenia wkrótce.

“Postanowiliśmy pobrać się w Polsce, dlatego zależało nam, żeby zachować polskie tradycje: ślub w kościele, powitanie chlebem i solą, rzucanie kieliszków przy toaście, polskie potrawy i wódka:)
Nie wszystko jednak było tradycyjne. Davide od początku zaznaczył, że chce mnie zobaczyć dopiero w kościele, więc do ołtarza prowadził mnie tata a przed nami szły dzieci brata i znajomych w jednakowych sukienkach Babymotta Milano. Przy ołtarzu mieliśmy też błogosławieństwo rodziców, czym wszyscy goście byli zachwyceni! Mimo że cała msza odprawiona była po polsku, przysięgę złożyliśmy też po włosku.
Patrząc (codziennie) na zdjęcia Doroty i Michała utwierdzamy się w przekonaniu, że wszystko było idealne: długi welon, o którym zawsze marzyłam, przewodni kolor – malinowy, różowe skarpetki panów, kontrowersyjny (dla niektórych:) wybór goździków zamiast róż, stara Warszawa, którą jechaliśmy nie szybciej niż 50km/h, ale przynajmniej mieliśmy czas, żeby ochłonąć po ceremonii…no i oczywiście wybór fotografów! Dorota i Michał dali nam najlepszy prezent ślubny – zdjęcia, które oddają wszystkie emocje. Po naszej narzeczeńskiej sesji wiedzieliśmy, że jesteśmy w dobrych rękach fotografów, którzy maja mnóstwo pomysłów, energii i dają z siebie 200%. Po raz kolejny – nie zawiedli nas, i na pewno nie była to nasza ostatnia sesja z WhiteSmoke Studio!”

A wedding is all about love…and decisions. For me it helped to remember the important ones: 1. the right groom (done!), 2. the right dress (a piece of art by my mum reusing lace from her own gown that had been made with her own mum), and 3. the best photographers. Everything else was up for discussion. Long before we had settled on a venue, we decided that Dorota and Michal were the photographers we wanted. With many loved ones traveling from 7 countries and 12 cities to celebrate with us, we wanted such a rare gathering to be captured with photojournalistic eyes. Dorota and Michal were recommended to us by an excellent London photographer who was already booked. She said “I think they are the best photographers in Europe. I wish I had known them for my own wedding”. I am not a photographer, but I know this: Our wedding photographs captured the love we hoped would unite our guests. They are photos that tell the true story of our big day, and like all good stories they never seem to get old. I can see us finding new dimensions to our memories every time we see them. Thank you Dorota and Michal. You were everywhere and you managed to fit in flexibly to each moment’s circumstance. You were reliable, professional, and you unleashed all your talent and effort on our day making us feel very special, and fortunate for having found you. We love the photos, and we think we love you too.
